Happy 5th Birthday Cousin Miles!

Today, my Grammy and Pop-Pop took me to my Cousin Miles' birthday party at a really fun place called BounceU. Well, just like the name says, you can bounce on just about everything in there! We all had to wear something called "wristbands" and take off our shoes to bounce and slide. There were two big rooms full of gigantic things to bounce and slide on and we played in both of them. The slides were a little too high for me last year so, I just bounced... but this year, I did it all! The grown-ups were bouncing and sliding too... even my Pop-Pop! Grammy did a little bouncing, but no sliding... she was happy behind the camera. Here are some of the pics she took while we were there and you can double-click on the collages for a larger view...

After everyone bounced, played, and slid to their heart's content, it was time to eat and celebrate the birthday boy. Cousin Miles sat in the big "BounceU" chair at the head of the table. We had pizza, juice, and chocolate cupcakes that we could put icing on and decorate ourselves. We sang the "Happy Birthday" song to him and he blew out his number 5 candle all by himself! After that, Miles' Mommy gave all of us a really neat "Cat In The Hat" goodie bag with a balloon on it and then, it was time to go home. Everyone had a great time and I hope that Cousin Miles enjoyed his birthday as much as we did sharing it with him!

Family Christmas Dinner 2010

Today, everybody went over to our cousin's house for the annual family Christmas dinner. This was the first family dinner for my little sister Sophia and my fourth! Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, and Pop-Pop were there too. We got a chance to see many of our aunts, uncles, and cousins, but what we liked the most was playing with all of our "little" cousins... Chloe, Janiah, Jaden, Jaden, (we have 2 cousins with the same name) Laila, Nailah, Miles, Nia, and Troy Jr. We also saw our newest "baby" cousin, Malaina, for the first time and she is only 3 months old! Here are some pics that Grammy took while we were there and you can click on the collages for a larger view. The camera battery gave out before she could get down to the basement where we were all playing, but the food was good and everybody had a really great time together!

The Christmas Tree Is Up!

Me and my little sister helped... that's me in front of the tree!

The Christmas tree is one of the most common symbols of the Christmas season. With its magnificent lights and decorations, it is beautiful to behold and reflects the warmth of the true meaning of Christmas.

In the Middle Ages, the Germans and Scandinavians placed evergreen trees inside their homes to display hope for the forthcoming spring.

According to a legend, the Christmas tree is linked with the birth of Christ. Legend tells that on the night of Christ's birth, all kinds of living creatures came to Bethlehem with gifts. The olive tree came with its fruit and the palm tree came with its date, but the fir tree had nothing to give the newborn king. So an angel, having compassion for the fir, commanded a cluster of stars to shinie on the fir's humble boughs. Upon seeing the lighted tree, Baby Jesus smiled and blessed it. As a result, the fir tree is wrapped with twinkling lights and dorned with decorations, to delight children, old and young alike, during Christmas.

Another belief is that the triangular shape of the fir tree symbolizes the Trinity and points upwards toward GOD. Even common tree decorations draw their roots in traditional values. The crystal balls symbolize the fruit of redemption, and the lights (or candles) are ancient symbols that stand for spring's triumph over the darkness of winter. Most importantly, the lights symbolize the light that Jesus Christ cast upon the lives of the people.
