Gone Fishin'

Inner City Peace... Revisited

Now that I'm all rested from the vacation and back to my regular routine, me and Grammy are ready to start blogging again...

Today, after Grammy picked me up from day care and Pop-Pop and Mommy got home from work, we all went to visit my Great Grandmother Pumpkin Pie and her sister, my Great Aunt Dorothy. She came all the way from a place called Jacksonville, FL to spend a week with Pumpkin Pie and she will be going home tomorrow. She told me that she came here on a train and you know how much I like trains! I wish I could ride with her when she goes back home on the train but, I know that my Mommy, Grammy, and Pop-Pop would miss me too much so, it was nice just hearing about it. We had a nice visit and it gave us a chance to say "bye-bye" to her before she had to leave.

After we left Pumpkin Pie's house and before we got in the car to go home, we went to the end of the block to see the special house with the fish pond again. I remember seeing it for the first time last summer and how much I liked it. No one was home when we stopped by last year but this time, we got a chance to meet the man who owned the house. He was very nice and he let Grammy (and Mommy) take his pic and more pics of the fish pond. He told us that he is going to add a waterfall to the outside of the house real soon and I can't wait to go back and see it!

My First Road Trip

I'm Going On Vacation!

By the time this is posted, me and my Mommy will be on the road. We are going on our first vacation together. Mommy said that we're going to a place called "Myrtle Beach" and it's inside of another place called "South Carolina". When we get there, we are going to meet up with other members of our family and spend the whole week together!

While we are away, my Grammy and Pop-Pop are having a "stay-at-home" vacation. This will be the first time that I will be separated from them since the minute I was born. You can probably tell from my recent posts that I really had a good time with them this past week. I know they are going to miss me and I'm going to miss them too.

My Mommy will be taking her camera and something else that she is going to use with it called a "tripod" (thanks to my Great Uncle Andy). I know that she is going to take a lot of pics to post on both of our blogs when we get back so, stay tuned.

Bye-bye for now... see you in a week!

Janiah & Jaden Are 5 Years Old!

This is a pic of my cousins, Janiah & Jaden. They are twins and their 5th birthday was on July 3rd. Today, they had a big birthday party at their grandparents' house and my Pop-Pop and Grammy took me there so I could celebrate with them.

A lot people came out to wish them a "Happy Birthday". I also got a chance to see some of my other cousins... Laila, Nailah, Samaya, and Troy, Jr. were there. The yard was filled with all kinds of "water fun" things to do and other cool stuff. We even had surprise visits from Elmo, SpongeBob SquarePants, Pooh, and Bozo The Clown!

There was also something called a "pinyata" hanging from a tree. It looked like the fish in Finding Nemo and it was filled with candy. I watched while the older kids took turns using something called a "cane" to hit the pinyata as hard as they could until all the candy fell out. When it did, all the kids dropped to the ground and tried to pick up as much candy as their hands would hold.

Then, it was time to sing the "Happy Birthday" song to Janiah & Jaden. They also had another cousin sitting with them who was celebrating a 4th birthday. After that, we watched all three of them make a wish and blow out the candles on their cakes. When they finished, the cakes were cut and everybody got a piece to eat. We even got "party bags" to take home. I know that the "birthday kids" had a great time and the rest of us did too!

King Family Picnic 2008 - Part I

Annual Gathering at
Smedley Park, Springfield PA

Today, we went to the King Family picnic. This year, we had two guests who are father and son. They came to take pics and do a special story about our family.

Now that my Mommy has a photo blog and likes to take pics all the time, she talked with them about something called "photography" so she could learn more about it.

Grammy took this pic of the son filming our family with something called a "video camera". He looked like he was very busy so, I don't think he noticed that she took his pic!

We also had another very special guest who came to the picnic. Grammy told me that his name is "Barack Obama" and he wants to be something called a "president". He took this pic with my Cousin Cookie (left) and Cousin Peanut (right).

Then, we had another special guest who showed up. Grammy told me that her name is "Hillary Clinton" and she wanted to be a "president" too but, now she can't because she didn't have enough people called "delegates" (whoever they are). That's my Great Aunt Ethel in the middle and she is very special too.

These are pics of me and some of the things I did at the picnic. It was a really B-I-G park so there was a lot of room to run and play. There were tracks going through the park too and I saw lots of "buses" go by... Grammy said that they were really something called "trolleys" but, I like anything that rides on a track! I also had my little red car with me so, Pop-Pop, Grammy, and Mommy took turns letting me ride down a hill in it. Grammy said that we were playing something called "roller coaster" and that was fun!

And, these are all the family pics. There were lots of smiles, hugs, and kisses. We had plenty of food to eat, lots of cold things to drink, and good music. There was a football game and some of the girls played a game called "double-dutch" with something called a "rope". We also took a group pic with the whole family.

It was really nice seeing everyone again and spending the day together. We had a great time and hope that your July 4th holiday was great too! Click here to see more pics at Mommy's blog!

PRAYER FOR CHILDREN

Lord Jesus, You were never too busy to pay attention to children, for You dearly loved them. We are happy that you love us and that You have time to listen to our prayers and to answer them. We thank You that You have made us Your own. As we get bigger and stronger every day, help us to grow stronger in our faith too. Bless our parents, whom You have given to us, and help us to respect and obey them, to love and treasure them. Forgive us when we disobey them or when we fail to respect them as Your previous gifts to us. Give them the wisdom to train us in the good and right way. Bless our home and every member of our family with a strong faith in You and true love to one another. Teach us to be kind, unselfish, helpful, cheerful, forgiving, and faithful in our duties. Help us to be like You, Lord Jesus, to grow in wisdom and character and in favor with God and all people. Send Your angels to watch over us, to keep us from all harm of body and soul. Bless us, and make us a blessing to our family and friends. Amen.

Thank you for stopping by and come back again!
