King Family Picnic 2008 - Part I

Annual Gathering at
Smedley Park, Springfield PA

Today, we went to the King Family picnic. This year, we had two guests who are father and son. They came to take pics and do a special story about our family.

Now that my Mommy has a photo blog and likes to take pics all the time, she talked with them about something called "photography" so she could learn more about it.

Grammy took this pic of the son filming our family with something called a "video camera". He looked like he was very busy so, I don't think he noticed that she took his pic!

We also had another very special guest who came to the picnic. Grammy told me that his name is "Barack Obama" and he wants to be something called a "president". He took this pic with my Cousin Cookie (left) and Cousin Peanut (right).

Then, we had another special guest who showed up. Grammy told me that her name is "Hillary Clinton" and she wanted to be a "president" too but, now she can't because she didn't have enough people called "delegates" (whoever they are). That's my Great Aunt Ethel in the middle and she is very special too.

These are pics of me and some of the things I did at the picnic. It was a really B-I-G park so there was a lot of room to run and play. There were tracks going through the park too and I saw lots of "buses" go by... Grammy said that they were really something called "trolleys" but, I like anything that rides on a track! I also had my little red car with me so, Pop-Pop, Grammy, and Mommy took turns letting me ride down a hill in it. Grammy said that we were playing something called "roller coaster" and that was fun!

And, these are all the family pics. There were lots of smiles, hugs, and kisses. We had plenty of food to eat, lots of cold things to drink, and good music. There was a football game and some of the girls played a game called "double-dutch" with something called a "rope". We also took a group pic with the whole family.

It was really nice seeing everyone again and spending the day together. We had a great time and hope that your July 4th holiday was great too! Click here to see more pics at Mommy's blog!

Booga Update 12/26/06

Hi

Dear Family & Friends,

I turned 11 months old two days ago on December 24th. I'm not sure how much I weigh or how long I am because I haven't been to see the doc yet. I still can't walk by myself but, I'm working on it everyday with the help of my Pop-Pop, Grandmother, Mommy, and Great Grandmother "Pumpkin Pie". I got 2 new teeth (top) this month so, I now have a total of six. Another one (bottom) is pushing it's way through and should arrive soon. Now that I have so many teeth, I can eat small amounts of table food. It's a little more work to eat it because of all the chewing but, I really like it! It makes baby food kinda dull and it tastes so much better. I'm still having fun everyday with my friends at day care. I also took a trip to Baltimore, MD to see my Cousin Nailah. She celebrated her 1st birthday with a "Winter Wonderful" party on December 3rd.

The Name Game: For those of you who saw the flyer in your Christmas card from us and couldn't figure out the name my Grandmother wants me to call her from the dancing letters, it is "Grammy".

Needless to say, the highlight for me this month was my first Christmas! I met and took pics with 2 Santa Clauses. Then, I helped my family put together something called a Christmas tree. The box it came in was pretty cool too and I had fun playing in it. My Mommy dressed me up like Santa Claus and we took pics while we decorated the tree. When we finished, it was something to see. There were so many bright lights, balls, and something called candy canes...it was awesome. The King Family had their annual holiday party. My Pop-Pop and Grandmother went but, it was past my bedtime so, me and Mommy just chilled at home. I'm looking foward to going to the annual family Christmas dinner at my Nana's house in a few days. The dinner will be early enough in the day so, I can go! There was a Christmas party at day care too. We also had a special service at church on Christmas Eve to celebrate the Baby Jesus being born and I had a good time. Now that I can clap my hands, I can praise GOD too, just like all the big people. And then, there was Christmas day...when I woke up, I had more clothes to wear and toys to play with all day. I had a special dinner with my family and my Godmomie Latoya & Godpopie Justin came to see me. I really like Christmas and I can't wait to celebrate it again next year.

Well, I guess that's all for now. As always, my Pop-Pop, Grandmother, and Mommy said to tell you "hello" and we all hope that you and your family had a Merry Christmas too. Look for my next update on my first birthday 01/24/07. See you then!

Love, "The Booga..."

Booga Update 07/24/06

Hi

Dear Family & Friends,

I am 6 months old today, 19 lbs+2 ozs, and 27 inches long. My next appointment with the Doc is tomorrow and I’m scheduled to get more of those horrible shots! Being at day care with all my friends is great. I can sit up now but I have to work on "staying" up. Right now, it seems like it’s easier and more fun to just lay down and “roll” wherever I want to go. Crawling is too much work. Maybe I’ll give it another try next month. I’m still on water, juice, milk, cereal, veggies, and fruit but, I think that may change. It looks like my first tooth is going to appear soon. When it does, “finger foods” look out…here I come! It’s been a very busy month and I have been on the move. I’m still making my rounds and meeting some family and friends for the first time. My Mom and Grandparents are having trouble keeping up with me. They all complain about being tired and I feel like I’m just getting started. I may have to strike out on my own and leave all the “tired folk” at home! Here are just some of the things I did this past month.

1. Attended Cousin Miles' Christening

2. Attended a family meeting about the Meuse Reunion

3. Attended the King Family Picnic

4. Went bowling at Center Lanes

5. Went to South Street & Penn’s Landing

6. Spent the day with my Godmother Latoya

7. Attended Cousin Rikki’s surprise bridal shower

You name it...I was there! It was great to finally meet my Cousins Jackson, Jaden, Janiah, Laila, and Nailah. I hear I have another new cousin by the name of Jaden and I can't wait to meet him too. My Mom and Grandparents are doing fine and said to tell you "hello"! NO, my Grandmother has not decided on a name yet. Well, that's all for now. Look for my next update on 08/24/06. Don't forget to come back from time to time to check for new pics. Thanks for stopping by!

Love, "The Booga..."

King Family Picnic 2009

Annual Family Day at
Smedley Park in Springfield, PA

This is my third year celebrating something called "Independence Day" with my larger family at our annual picnic in the park. My Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Pop-Pop, and little sister Sophia were there too. We were very excited about going this year because everybody got a chance to meet my little sister for the first time. Everybody thought that she was really cute and a lot of people took turns holding her while she was sleeping. She did open her eyes a few times but, she didn't stay awake for long!

As always, there was plenty of good food to eat, cold stuff to drink, toys to play with, and even a playground! My favorite things to do included watching the trolleys go by and playing on the bridge over the stream. There was another large family in the park and they were celebrating the holiday too. Late in the afternoon, our family played "touch football" with them and I'm happy to report that we won the game! It was a nice sunny day and everyone had a great time together.

Here are some of the pics that Grammy took and you can click on each collage for a larger view. We hope that you had a wonderful July 4th holiday too!

King Family Picnic 2011

Annual Family Day @ Smedley Park in Springfield, PA

Today, we celebrated the July 4th holiday a little early with our larger family in the park. Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, and Pop-Pop were there too. It was nice to see everyone again and, as always, there was plenty of food to eat, cool stuff to drink, and good music. We had a great time on the bridge throwing rocks into the water, playing ball, tossing the frisbee, riding our tricyle, riding in our wagon, and playing at the nearby playground. This time, Mommy and Grammy brought their cameras, so we have 2 sets of pics for the day. We hope that you and your family have a great July 4th holiday too!

PRAYER FOR CHILDREN

Lord Jesus, You were never too busy to pay attention to children, for You dearly loved them. We are happy that you love us and that You have time to listen to our prayers and to answer them. We thank You that You have made us Your own. As we get bigger and stronger every day, help us to grow stronger in our faith too. Bless our parents, whom You have given to us, and help us to respect and obey them, to love and treasure them. Forgive us when we disobey them or when we fail to respect them as Your previous gifts to us. Give them the wisdom to train us in the good and right way. Bless our home and every member of our family with a strong faith in You and true love to one another. Teach us to be kind, unselfish, helpful, cheerful, forgiving, and faithful in our duties. Help us to be like You, Lord Jesus, to grow in wisdom and character and in favor with God and all people. Send Your angels to watch over us, to keep us from all harm of body and soul. Bless us, and make us a blessing to our family and friends. Amen.

Thank you for stopping by and come back again!
